UK Firm Buys Middleton Park House

Middleton Park House, which was put on the market for just under €1m earlier this year, has been bought by a UK-based equity firm.

The hotel, located in Castletown Geoghan, Co. Westmeath, was brought to market by Savills in late June.

Details on the new owners have not been published, but Savills say that the house was bought for "around the €1m mark". Existing management and staff will all be retained.

Dating back to 1850s, the property comprises around 26 acres of gardens and woodland and is hidden from public view at the end of a long avenue over 1km in length. The main house consists of a two-storey over basement, six-bay centre block with single storey one-bay wings.

The property is a popular wedding venue and has 16 bedrooms. (August 2014)
