AirSpeed Wins EBA Award
Irish telco firm AirSpeed Telecom claimed the European Business Awards title of 'RSM Entrepreneur of the Year', which was announced at a ceremony in Athens.
Founded by Liam O'Kelly in 2003, AirSpeed Telecom was one of 17,000 entries from around Europe, which was whittled down to a shortlist of 100 finalists.
Ten category winners were feted during the European Business Awards, which is an independently organised to promote top businesses in Europe and has been running for seven years.
AirSpeed Telecom provides high-performance telecommunications products and services to enterprise, public sector and SME businesses. The firm claims to be growing fast, with year-on-year revenue growth of over 40%.
It was selected by the judges for spotting a gap in the market to deliver leased-line replacement services for internet access for between 30% and 50% of the cost of competing products. Airspeed has offices in Dublin, Cork and Belfast.
Speaking about his firm's win, O'Kelly said: “We were extremely proud to reach the Ruban d'Honneur stage of the European Business Awards and to represent Ireland. Securing the award for Entrepreneur of the Year is a tremendous achievement and recognises the hard work, focus and enthusiasm of the entire AirSpeed Telecom team.” (May 2014)
