Subway Chain Tops 200
The Subway sandwich store franchise continues to spread like butter across the country and has hit the 200 outlet mark with the opening of a store in Naas.
The franchise option is clearly a draw for those looking at low-cost startup options, and Subway recently announced an ambitious target of more than 180 additional store openings in Ireland. Over 800 full-time staff are currently employed in the 200 existing Subway stores nationwide.
Located in Naas's Monread Centre, the newest Subway outlet will create five jobs and is being run by franchisees Tom and Barbara Ward. Subway's development agent for Ireland, Muriel O'Grady, highlighted the low-cost setup for franchisees as being an important factor in the brand's success. She also pointed out that Subway network of franchisees continued to grow through the recession.
O'Grady added: “We are a strong team of independent entrepreneurs working collectively to grow our business by providing excellent food, service and value. As well as the service we provide to customers we are also supporting the economy wherever we can.
“In the past year alone, the Subway brand used over 400,000 beef patties produced in Ireland, using 100% Irish beef sourced from certified, quality-assured farms. It's something we are immensely proud of and it ensures that we serve the communities in Ireland in more ways than one.” (10/03/14)
