News Access Buys Media World

Media monitoring company News Access has acquired the news cuttings arm of peer company Media World.

News Access is owned by founder William McHugh and his son Stuart, who now heads up the company. Media World was formerly run by John McAleese, and when he retired the business was taken on by fellow directors Eileen O'Hanlon and John Clancy.

Media World Ltd booked a net loss of €25,000 in 2012. The sale to News Access does not include Media World's business newswire service, which is run by Joe Downes.

Based in Clonskeagh, Newsaccess Ltd booked a net profit of €235,000 in 2012 and had a net worth of €443,000 at year-end. News Access's NewsMetrics service enables client to quickly evaluate press, broadcast and online content and analyse results of PR spend. (14/02/14)
